FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEAugust 2, 2009 Camrose, Alberta: Panhandle Productions Ltd., producers of Big Jamboree in Camrose, Alberta, regret to announce that Sunday’s activities at Big Valley Jamboree 2009 will be cancelled due to the collapse of the concert bowl stage.
The stage collapsed Saturday night as the result of extreme weather that consisted of high winds and heavy rain. One person is confirmed deceased and two people remain in critical condition. As many as 75 people with various injuries were treated at medical facilities and have been in contact with family members. Emergency personnel worked throughout the night to confirm that all guests are accounted for. “We are deeply saddened by the events of Saturday night,” said event Producer Larry Werner. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families, fans and friends impacted by this incident.” A variety of personal belongings left in the concert bowl on Saturday can be picked up at the Panhandle Productions office located west of the site at 4238 37 Street Camrose Alberta. Event patrons are welcome to stay on site in the campground but the event facilities will be closed.
