On September 9th, 2009 the Country Music Association (CMA) announced the finalist list for the 2009 CMA Awards. I was pleased to learn that Billy Currington is nominated for three CMA awards with his latest #1 song "People Are Crazy" from his 2008 album "Little Bit of Everything".
"People Are Crazy" a briskly strummed country-rock song that has a simple but effective melody. It tells a simple story about a young man talking to an old man in a bar and his take on life, which is summed up in one ear pleasing melody, "God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy." I don't know about you but I have never heard a truer line. This song goes a long way to showing what great country music is all about with the always present steel guitar, traditional two step bass lick, and Billy's smooth, spot on baritone vocals. "People Are Crazy" is deservedly been nominated for the "Song of the Year, "Single of the Year" and "Video of The Year". Kudos to you, Billy, for this fantastic song and your well deserved success! "The CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by over 6,000 industry professional members of CMA, which was the first trade organization formed to promote an individual genre of music in 1958. The winners of "The 43rd Annual CMA Awards" will be determined in a final round of voting by eligible voting members of the Country Music Association." (Taken From: CMA Awards)The winners will be notified in mid October and the award show will be aired LIVE on the ABC network from the Sommett Center in Nashville, TN on Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 starting at 8:00p.m.-11:00p.m. (EST).
