Billy Currington on January 31st, 2010 walked the red carpet at the Grammy Awards for his two nominations for People Are Crazy which soared to the top of the charts to reach #1 at lightening speeds.
People Are Crazy written by Bobby Braddock and Troy Jones is a briskly strummed country-rock song that has a simple but effective melody. It tells a simple story about a young man talking to an old man in a bar and his take on life, which is summed up in one ear pleasing melody, "God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy." I don't know about you but I have never heard a truer line. This song goes a long way to showing what great country music is all about with the always present steel guitar, traditional two step bass lick, and Billy's smooth, spot on baritone vocals. The songwriters and Billy have been nominated for Best Male Vocal Performance which is for a solo performance for a single release along with such artists as Keith Urban and Geeorge Strait and for Best Country Song which is a songwriters award with other song nominations for other artists such as Taylor Swift for White Horse and Lady Antebellum for I RunTo You. Unfortuneately, Billy did not walk away with any of the Grammy Awards which he deservedly should have won. Keith Urban walked away with the Best Male Vocal Performance for Sweet Thing while Taylor Swift's songwriters, Liz Rose and Taylor Swift, for White Horse was the winner for the Best Country Song. Billy, All of us at the Billy Currington Fan Club (unofficial) would like to tell you that you are a WINNER in our eyes but would like to congradulate you on your Grammy nominations for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song. Sorry, honey, that you didn't win.
